I know you’ve likely read books telling you to simply take more action, or encouraging you to get more customers (because it’s that easy, right?). Not Alchemy. No. Alchemy is different. Marketing genius, Rory Sutherland, walks you through his own experiences, case studies, and tid-bits of information that a thinking reader is able to bring together into your own thoughts and process them into things that actually make a difference in your business.
Rory touches on the success of Red Bull, the worlds most disgusting drink. While going on to discuss the benefits of cucumber sandwiches to an airline company, and considering the finer points of NHS waiting times.
These may seem entirely irrelevant to your business, and to the non-thinking entrepreneur they will be, but to you they’ll be the golden nuggets you need to make the step change you’ve been looking for.
In Alchemy, Sutherland practically begs the readers to throw logic out of the window (in most cases) instead asking you to use the power of alchemy, good ideas, and imagination. Making this a great book for those trapped in corporate who may be feeling a little odd-one-out. We’re all trained in corporate to follow the rules, which for some of us can be infuriatingly backwards, after all the answer is so bloody obvious why do we need to “circle back on it”?
Not only does it make our kind feel less alone, it helps those of us who’ve squirmed our way out of the corporate world to unlearn and give ourselves permission to think in the way we used to, to be creative in a world of pen-pushing rule-following suits.
Overall it’s clear to see where Rory managed to rise to popular fame in the social media world of podcasts and webinars. Simply because we’re a bit bored of the same old over-hyped, valueless content of those trying to push courses and guides on us, Rory truly wants to share, wants people to be given permission, and wants to see that growth.
So, to summarise:

PS: To audiobook fans this is available on Spotify and Audible, and it’s read by Rory Sutherland himself which really gives the book some extra depth!
